Wine Enthusiast
This is a luxuriously layered and complex white. It's an expertly rendered combination of ripe, rich fruit—most notably spicy apple and pear—that's completely uplifted by bright acidity and a refreshing mouthfeel. Still youthful, it's both vibrant and nuanced.
Winery Notes
Winery Notes:
Winemaker's Notes: The Carneros District Chardonnay comes from three vineyards planted to 'Shot-Wente' selection. All are in the cool-weather area of Carneros, near the San Francisco Bay. 'Shot-Wente' is an heirloom Chardonnay selection with grapes that are smaller than normal, giving them increased skin surface relative to the juice. That ratio makes the wine especially flavorful.

Additional Information

Varietal :
Probably the world's most famous grape, and also one of the most versatile, Chardonnay produces excellent white wines in a range of styles. When aged in oak, Chardonnay exhibits buttery, vanilla and sometimes nutty flavors. Unoaked examples are crisp and fruity, with green apple or tropical flavors. Chardonnay is the grape used to make White Burgundy, Sancerre and Chablis, and may also be used to produce Champagne. View all our additional Chardonnay items
Sub-Region :
Cool and wind-whipped, the appellation known as Los Carneros straddles the coastal borders of the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. With thin soils, little rainfall and intense northern sun that draws the fog from San Pablo Bay, Los Carneros is a challenging microclimate with just the right growing conditions for cool-climate varietals. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and sparkling wines are all produced here with excellent results View all our items from Carneros
Region :
Since the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976 California wines have unquestionably ranked among the best in the world. From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. View all our items from California
