Robert Parker, The Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Chardonnays are absolutely brilliant. Almost all of them are made from heritage California clones such as Old Wente (known for its tiny berries and small yields). The 2014 Chardonnays had just been bottled, but they also showed well, given that they are slightly tighter and more reserved because of the recent transfer from wood to glass.
Robert Parker, The Wine AdvocateAnother profound effort from Tor Kenward is the 2013 Chardonnay Torchiana Beresini Vineyard, from some of the oldest Chardonnay vines in Northern California (now 30+ years of age). This dry-farmed, three-acre vineyard has produced a prodigious Chardonnay with notes of poached pear, honeyed tropical fruits, caramelized citrus, marmalade and subtle, spicy, smoky wood in a full-bodied, stunningly rich, concentrated style.
Robert Parker, The Wine AdvocateTor Kenward has put together an impressive portfolio of wines, slowing increasing the number of single-vineyard offerings. His stuff is exciting, which is not all that surprising, given his long-time experience working at Beringer as well as his rich wine-tasting experience over multiple decades.
ChardonnayProbably the world's most famous grape, and also one of the most versatile, Chardonnay produces excellent white wines in a range of styles. When aged in oak, Chardonnay exhibits buttery, vanilla and sometimes nutty flavors. Unoaked examples are crisp and fruity, with green apple or tropical flavors. Chardonnay is the grape used to make White Burgundy, Sancerre and Chablis, and may also be used to produce Champagne. View all our additional Chardonnay items
CaliforniaSince the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976 California wines have unquestionably ranked among the best in the world. From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. View all our items from California
