Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Reviewer, Jeb Dunnuck - Pulling from a number of sites spread throughout the Central Coast, Herman Story’s Russell From makes unabashedly Californian wines that make the most of the beautiful fruit that makes California so special. These are not for those craving tiny, mid-weight efforts and they have rocking textures, tons of fruit and most importantly, always remain a joy to drink. These are gorgeous wines.

Reviewer, Jeb Dunnuck - Checking in as 100% Grenache, the 2013 On The Road (Grenache) was half destemmed and brought up in 65% new and 35% neutral French oak. It offers up a perfumed bouquet of kirsch and black raspberry fruits, crushed rocks, spice and dried earth in a full-bodied, supple, balanced and delicious style. It has a kick of savory tannin to integrate, but it's already approachable and should offer tons of pleasure over the coming 4-5 years.

Additional Information

Varietal :
Grenache
This red wine grape is probably the most widely planted grape in the world. Used primarily for blending, Grenache (known in Spain as Garnacha) lends a fruity, spicy character to famous wines like Chateauneuf du Pape from France's Rhone region and GSM (Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah) blends from Australia. Grenache favors hot, dry climates and can reach high sugar levels, which make it ideal for fortified wines like Banyuls and Vin Doux Naturals. View all our additional Grenache items
Sub-Region :
Paso Robles
The largest AVA in San Luis Obispo County, Paso Robles has 18,500 acres under vine. The Santa Lucia mountain range shelters most of the region from the fog that cools the southern San Luis Obispo AVAs, so it is better suited to warm climate varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Grenache. Wines produced in the warmer eastern part of Paso Robles tend to be more approachable in their youth, while wines from the cooler western part tend to age better. View all our items from Paso Robles
Region :
California
Since the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976 California wines have unquestionably ranked among the best in the world. From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. View all our items from California
