Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Reviewer, Jeb Dunnuck - Both the 2012s and 2013s from Jonata are superb, and this team excelled with both the Bordeaux and Rhone varieties. I think the 2013s have an extra layer of concentration and depth, with the Fenix being one of the greatest Merlots I have tasted from the region. It is from barrel, so nothing's set in stone, but this is a killer wine. The Cabernet Franc El Alma de Jonata and El Desafio aren’t far behind and are incredibly concentrated and rich. I suspect all of these will have two decades or more of longevity. As to the Syrahs, the La Sangre tastes like the essence of the variety, but is often so tannic in its youth it is almost undrinkable. The Todos is becoming more and more Syrah dominated and certainly is not far behind in terms of quality and is much (well, a little) more approachable on release. In short, you can’t go wrong at this estate and these are brilliant wines that check in near the top of the Santa Barbara hierarchy. Hat's off to winemaker Matt Dees and the rest of the team.

Reviewer, Jeb Dunnuck - A great wine, the 2012 Todos Proprietary Red Wine offers terrific notes of black and red raspberry fruits, toasted bread and spice. As it sat in the glass, more classic Syrah olive, bacon and a touch of violet all developed. Medium to full-bodied, juicy, mouthfilling and loaded with sweet fruit, it doesn't skimp on structure and will have at least a decade of longevity. Think of this as a mini-La Sangre. The blend here is 75% Syrah with 7% each of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance a mix of varieties.

Since the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976 California wines have unquestionably ranked among the best in the world. From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. View all our items from California
