Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
The 2011 Vizcarra Roble, 100% Tempranillo from organic vineyards, was aged seven months in both French and American oak. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a sumptuous nose of blackberries, new saddle leather, licorice, camphor and crushed rocks. With a superb texture and full-bodied mouthfeel, and built like a skyscraper, this multidimensional Ribera del Duero is already drinking fabulously well. It should continue to do so for up to a decade.
James Suckling
Full berry fermentation aromas. Super fruity. Has purity of fruit, like the grapes are in the glass. Not much tannin but lots of good fruit and fresh acidity. A delicious, juicy wine.

Additional Information

Sub-Region :
Ribera del Duero
Southwest of the well-known Rioja region in north central Spain, the Ribera del Duero extends along the banks of the Duero River. The region is particularly noted for its red wines made from Tempranillo, Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot. View all our items from Ribera del Duero
Region :
Sherry and Rioja have long been the best-known Spanish wines outside Spain, but Cava, Rivera del Duero and other wine regions are gaining notoriety. Tempranillo and Grenache (Garnacha) are the primary red grapes used, while AlbariƱo and Chardonnay lead white wine production. Spanish wines are aged at the winery and, contrary to most winemaking philosophies, are released only when they are ready to drink. Spanish wines are usually aged in Spanish, French or American oak, and tend to be big and ripe thanks to the warm dry climate. View all our items from Spain
