Wine Spectator
A robust style, brimming with rich, juicy blackberry, wild berry and boysenberry flavors. This is intense and vibrant, featuring a dense core of fruit complemented by black licorice, cedar and spice notes. Drink now through 2022.
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Reviewer, Jeb Dunnuck - Russell From continues to release a bevy of smoking wines under his Herman Story label. His wines never lack for fruit or texture, yet to me, always stay beautifully balanced and downright thrilling to drink. In addition, these 2010s and 2011s are some of the more restrained efforts he’s released. Keep an open mind and check these wine out!
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Reviewer, Jeb Dunnuck - A voluptuous Grenache that over-delivers on texture and richness (especially given the vintage), the 2011 On the Road (100% Grenache aged 16 months in 50% new French oak) offers up sweet aromas and flavors of blackberry jam, raspberry, underbrush, licorice and hints of flowers. While a full-bodied, decadent effort, it has beautiful purity and is one of Russell’s more pure, elegant Grenaches. Enjoy it over the coming 4-5 years. Drink now-2018.

Additional Information

Varietal :
This red wine grape is probably the most widely planted grape in the world. Used primarily for blending, Grenache (known in Spain as Garnacha) lends a fruity, spicy character to famous wines like Chateauneuf du Pape from France's Rhone region and GSM (Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah) blends from Australia. Grenache favors hot, dry climates and can reach high sugar levels, which make it ideal for fortified wines like Banyuls and Vin Doux Naturals. View all our additional Grenache items
Sub-Region :
Paso Robles
The largest AVA in San Luis Obispo County, Paso Robles has 18,500 acres under vine. The Santa Lucia mountain range shelters most of the region from the fog that cools the southern San Luis Obispo AVAs, so it is better suited to warm climate varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Grenache. Wines produced in the warmer eastern part of Paso Robles tend to be more approachable in their youth, while wines from the cooler western part tend to age better. View all our items from Paso Robles
Region :
Since the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976 California wines have unquestionably ranked among the best in the world. From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. View all our items from California
