Sauvignon BlancA white wine varietal with roots in the Loire Valley of France, Sauvignon Blanc is now seeing great success in New Zealand and cool parts of California. It can show green pepper and grassy notes, or burst with tropical fruit and floral flavors. It is generally a food-friendly, youthful dry wine, but in Bordeaux it is blended with Semillon to produce the celebrated and long-lived dessert wine, Chateau d’Yquem.
