Winery Notes
Winery Notes:
Vineyard: White Hawk 98% Syrah, 2% Viognier. TASTING NOTES: More than any other vineyard I work with, White Hawk Vineyard behaves like a good dance partner; moving expertly to the motions of each vintage. If the 2008 was a broad-shouldered, buxom cowgirl, the 2009 is her Manhattan counterpart: sleek, elegant and worldly. A perfumed nose of rich raspberry, fresh picked rose and subtle violet with rural undernotes of crisp bacon, clove oil and black pepper. The 2009 White Hawk shows an earthy, athletic palate with grilled game, kirsch and maduro cigar wrapper. Full bodied tannins linger throughout the evening, leaving you begging for the next dance. (DRINK NOW: 2+ hour decant, CELLAR 8+ years).

Winery Notes:
I am Russell P. From, winemaker and sole employee of Herman Story Wines. Herman Story Wines are made, schlepped, peddled, and drunk with friends by me. The basic web design books tell me that you’re probably here for the basics: to find release schedules, ordering information and tasting opportunities for the wines I make, which sounds pretty good to me. The less time I spend writing this stuff the more time I spend in the cellar. So here you go, all the facts with none of the filler. An aesthetic I stand by and believe my wines do too.

Additional Information

Varietal :
Syrah
Also known as Shiraz in Australia and South Africa, Syrah makes intense, deep wines with plenty of spice, fruit and alcohol. It thrives in warm climates, and is widely grown in Australia, California, and the Rhone region of France, where it makes Cote Rotie and Hermitage, and forms the backbone of Chateauneuf du Pape. Region :
California
Since the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976 California wines have unquestionably ranked among the best in the world. From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. View all our items from California
