Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Abreu’s 2009 Thorevilos sets the bar at a very high level for every other Napa producer. Its deep blue/purple hue is followed by a bouquet filled with camphor, incense, blackberry, blueberry and espresso aromas. Beautifully textured and full-bodied with sweet tannins as well as a 45-60+ second finish, it should drink well for 20+ years.
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Reviewer, Antonio Galloni - The 2009 Thorevilos is super-impressive. Despite its considerable size, there is an element of weightlessness and seamlessness to the fruit that is breathtaking. The wine turns more inward with time in the glass, suggesting it may be closing down. The blend for the 2009 is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot.
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
The 2009 Thorevilos displays a stunningly blue/purple color along with an exceptional nose of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with espresso, white chocolate and violets. With unbelievable intensity, a great, full-bodied mouthfeel, stunning purity, a subtle hint of wood, but no hard edges, this is one 2009 that does not have that broodingly tannic structure that is common in this vintage. This sensational effort can be drunk early on or cellared for another three decades.
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Reviewer, Antonio Galloni - The 2009 Proprietary Red Thorevilos is big, big, big. The deepest and most inward of Abreu’s 2009s, the Thorevilos shows none of the sexiness and early appeal of the Cappella or Madrona Ranch. Compact masses of dark, incredibly primary fruit remain virtually impenetrable. Occasionally a hint of tar, mocha, graphite and pencil shavings make a brief appearance, but for most of the time the 2009 remains incredibly tight. Readers will have to be exceptionally patient with the 2009. The blend is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot.

Additional Information

Sub-Region :
Napa Valley
America’s equivalent of Bordeaux, Napa Valley is the most famous winegrowing region in the United States. Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay reign supreme in Napa Valley, but many of varietals are also grown successfully. Wines made from Napa Valley grapes vary greatly depending on the specific AVA or sub region where they are grown. Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Stag’s Leap, Oakville and Rutherford are a few acclaimed sub regions with their own distinct climactic and soil conditions. It is also the home of California “cult wines” like Screaming Eagle, Harlan Estate and Grace Family Vineyard. View all our items from Napa Valley
Region :
Since the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976 California wines have unquestionably ranked among the best in the world. From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. View all our items from California
