Zinfandel
Berrys and spice and everything nice – that's how Zinfandel fans describe wines made from this red wine grape. Often considered a cousin to the Italian Primitivo grape, it can be light and fruit like French Beaujolais, complex and age-worthy like Cabernet, or ripe, alcoholic and reminiscent of Port. Zinfandel is considered the All-American grape, likely because it is hardly found elsewhere… and possibly because it pairs so well with barbecue!

Lodi
With warm days and cool nights, Lodi boasts a classic Mediterranean climate that is perfect for growing its signature grape: Zinfandel. While Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and the other noble varietals also grow here, Zinfandel is ideally suited to the breezy weather and sandy soils. Old Vine Zinfandel is Lodi’s specialty, with many vineyards boasting vines over 100 years old.

From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc.
