Connoisseurs' Guide
Nicely ripened blackberry first aromas are comfortably filled out by suggestions of red cherries, sweet oak, a touch of caramel and spicy background notes. Full-bodied on the palate with its suppleness running to a bit of flesh, but balanced quite well, this wine tightens up and finds structure figuring prominently in its latter half. Expect four to six years of growth at a minimum. It is made in the classic, sweet-berry, light spice mold of the Dry Creek Valley and is bound to entertain all but the most power hungry Zin fans.Additional Information

ZinfandelBerrys and spice and everything nice – that's how Zinfandel fans describe wines made from this red wine grape. Often considered a cousin to the Italian Primitivo grape, it can be light and fruit like French Beaujolais, complex and age-worthy like Cabernet, or ripe, alcoholic and reminiscent of Port. Zinfandel is considered the All-American grape, likely because it is hardly found elsewhere… and possibly because it pairs so well with barbecue! |

CaliforniaSince the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976 California wines have unquestionably ranked among the best in the world. From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. |
