Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
A wine of staggering purity, unreal depth, and a finish that goes on for nearly 50 seconds, the 2007 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard was bottled unfined and unfiltered after 18 months of barrel aging. It exhibits an incredible perfume of fruitcake, road tar, spice box, blackberries, black raspberries, and hints of char, smoke, and graphite. Stunningly rich, with a floral/incense complexity that emerges with airing, this black/purple-colored wine tips the scales at 15.9% alcohol, but it reveals a seamlessness, phenomenal texture, and a multidimensional personality. One of the vintage’s most compelling Syrahs, it should age effortlessly for the next 15 years. One of the superstar performances in my tastings of Central Coast wines was the offerings from Jaffurs.Additional Information

CaliforniaSince the famous Judgement of Paris in 1976 California wines have unquestionably ranked among the best in the world. From the Anderson Valley in the North through Temecula Valley in the South, California vineyards grow dozens of wine grape varietals that produce wines of many different styles. The California wine industry has steadily gained ground since the 1960s (the industry took a major hit following Prohibition), but its roots date back over 200 years. Major grape varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. |
