Wine Spectator
A juicy, balanced red, with alluring aromas of wild berry and wet stone that carry through on the palate. Has intensity, yet remains graceful, with spicy and floral accents to the lively fruit.

Winery Notes
Winery Notes:
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate: Reviewer, Jay Miller - The four wines from Casto Ventosa are 100% Mencia. The 2004 El Castro de Valtuille is dark ruby-colored with fragrant aromas and flavors of scorched earth, black raspberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a supple, ripe, structured wine with good flavors and excellent length. The wine has tannin to lose so plan on cellaring it for 2-3 years.

Additional Information

Region :
Spain
Sherry and Rioja have long been the best-known Spanish wines outside Spain, but Cava, Rivera del Duero and other wine regions are gaining notoriety. Tempranillo and Grenache (Garnacha) are the primary red grapes used, while AlbariƱo and Chardonnay lead white wine production. Spanish wines are aged at the winery and, contrary to most winemaking philosophies, are released only when they are ready to drink. Spanish wines are usually aged in Spanish, French or American oak, and tend to be big and ripe thanks to the warm dry climate. View all our items from Spain
