Wine Spectator
A juicy, balanced red, with alluring aromas of wild berry and wet stone that carry through on the palate. Has intensity, yet remains graceful, with spicy and floral accents to the lively fruit.
Winery Notes:
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate:
Reviewer, Jay Miller - The four wines from Casto Ventosa are 100% Mencia. The 2004 El Castro de Valtuille is dark ruby-colored with fragrant aromas and flavors of scorched earth, black raspberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a supple, ripe, structured wine with good flavors and excellent length. The wine has tannin to lose so plan on cellaring it for 2-3 years.
