Remarkably, the 2002 Syrah Eddie’s Patch ratchets up the level of intensity as this full-bodied, massive Syrah exhibits a tremendously inky/purple color in addition to a gorgeous nose of barbecue spices intermixed with coffee, blackberry liqueur, roasted meat juices, and a long finish revealing hints of asphalt, licorice, and chocolate. This knock-out 2002 should be every bit as spectacular as the 2001.
Wine Spectator
This is a delicious Syrah, pure, rich, intense and concentrated, with a wonderful core of zesty black cherry, blackberry, wild berry and pretty fresh earth scents. Just when you think the flow of flavors is about to slow down then the light, toasty vanilla oak flavors fold it, giving it yet another added dimension of flavor.

The 2002 Syrah Eddie’s Patch is an amazingly impressive effort from a steeply terraced vineyard. Inky/black (squid ink comes to mind) to the rim, this full-bodied Syrah boasts notes of charcoal-infused blackberries intermixed with acacia flowers, chocolate, and pepper. Unctuously-textured and rich, with the oak kept well in the background, this impressive effort possesses sweet tannin as well as a creamy mid-palate and finish.
