Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
The 1996 Barbaresco Rabaja (Giacosa's debut vintage from this noted vineyard) displays an intriguing nose of soy, dried Provencal herbs, new saddle leather, and red/black fruits. Tannic and full-bodied, with an enormous impact on the palate, it is extremely concentrated, yet the fruit, alcohol, tannin, and acidity are all marvelously well-integrated. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2025.

Additional Information

Region :
Italy
As the world’s top wine-exporter, Italy is an important wine region both because of the amount and quality of wines produced. Just two grapes—Nebbiolo and Sangiovese—are used to make some of the finest Italian wines, including Barolo, Brunello de Montalcino and Chianti. Still, Italy is home to dozens of wine grape varieties, with important wines being made from Corvina, Barbera, Cortese, Moscato and traditionally French varietals. The major wine regions include Piedmont, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Campania and others. Most producers follow the government-regulated DOC classification system, with a few notable exceptions including the esteemed “Super Tuscan” producers. View all our items from Italy
