This is in total balance now with such harmony. What amazing aromas of berry and flowers. Full and sweet, the tannins are complete dissolved. The fruit is perfect. This goes on for minutes. Drink now. But it will go forever.

Until recently this wine was understated and closed. Now it has opened into a mammoth wine with so much fruit that it crushes your palate. Deep ruby, with ripe raspberry and cherry aromas, full-bodied, with layers of concentrated, sweet raspberry flavors, tons of tannin and an incredibly long finish. Perhaps as great as the '48.

What a Vintage Port. Dark ruby center, with a dark garnet edge. Aromas of flowers, blackberry and licorice. Subtle and complex. Wow. What a palate. Full, concentrated and rich, yet balanced and beautiful. Solid and sleepy. Still not giving all it has to give. This is just coming around. Gorgeous and classy. Love it. '77/'85/'97 blind Port retrospective. Drink now.

Additional Information

Region :
Portugal
The coastal country of Portugal is best known for its fortified wines, Port and Madeira. Port is so-named for Oporto, the coastal town where it is produced, not as a reference to the country name. Present-day Portuguese wine production began in the 15th century, with fortification of local wines beginning in the 18th century. The Douro Valley, Dão and Vinhos Verdes regions produce some of the better known Portuguese wines, including reds and whites from local indigenous grapes. View all our items from Portugal
