Wine Spectator
Bottled in a specially stenciled bottle with purple wax to commemorate King George V's silver jubilee. It may be slightly sexist these days, but the best way to describe this is as a mature, feminine Port. Medium to deep red with a garnet rim, ripe cassis, tomato and berry nose, full-bodied, with lovely, silky elegant cassis flavors and silky tannins.Additional Information

PortugalThe coastal country of Portugal is best known for its fortified wines, Port and Madeira. Port is so-named for Oporto, the coastal town where it is produced, not as a reference to the country name. Present-day Portuguese wine production began in the 15th century, with fortification of local wines beginning in the 18th century. The Douro Valley, Dão and Vinhos Verdes regions produce some of the better known Portuguese wines, including reds and whites from local indigenous grapes. |
